Sharesies is excited to team up with Pie Funds to bring two new managed funds to Sharesies!
Australasian Dividend Fund
This managed fund focuses predominantly on small and medium-sized Australian and New Zealand companies that pay a dividend and have long-term capital growth. There's a weighting towards Australian companies. The fund also holds cash which helps with diversification.
Global Climate Friendly Fund
This managed fund aims to provide long-term capital growth through companies that have low exposure to carbon emissions and fossil-fuel reserves. It invests in globally-listed companies from developed and emerging markets. It’s classified as a responsible fund because it considers companies that comply with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
Pie Funds and Sharesies
Before we launched the funds on Sharesies, Brooke Roberts—CEO of Sharesies, chatted with Mike Taylor—CEO of Pie Funds and Juno KiwiSaver about how these normally hard-to-get funds ended up on Sharesies.
Pie Funds is a boutique investment manager, mainly focused on investors with larger balances. Mike Taylor says they were keen to offer these funds to Sharesies 70,000+ investors, and at a 1c minimum investment, that’s an amazing thing to be able to offer.
"I love the idea of Sharesies—it allows people with very little money to become investors”, Mike says. “If we want to broaden the appeal of a Pie Funds investing style then we have to partner with a company like Sharesies. It’s a scale thing,” he says.
With the addition of these funds, the total number of managed and exchange-traded funds on Sharesies is now 40. Brooke Roberts says it’s amazing to think that, before Sharesies, many of these funds required very large minimum investments. “Working with investment managers like Pie Funds allows us to actually deliver on our aim of giving someone with $5 the same investment opportunities as someone with $500,000,” she says.
“The partnership between Sharesies and Pie Funds is an exciting opportunity not only for us, but for our investors too. The more managed funds Sharesies has to offer its customers, the more diverse their investing opportunities can be!”
