The Sharesies US500 Fund and US self-select is now available for all Sharesies KiwiSaver Scheme members.

The Sharesies US500 Fund is specifically designed to give NZ-based KiwiSaver investors low-cost exposure to the 500 largest companies in the US. 

Our US500 Fund tracks the S&P 500 index through the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), and has an annual fund charge of just 0.09% plus a 0.50% currency exchange fee when buying and selling units in the fund. 

It’s also structured as a PIE fund for tax efficiency and allows you to combine it with NZ and US self-select options for greater personalisation.

Yes, you can access the Sharesies US500 Fund and US self select options by transferring to the Sharesies KiwiSaver Scheme in a few simple steps.

The transfer process typically takes around 10 business days, and there’s no fee to transfer.

Dividends from the Sharesies US500 Fund are automatically issued directly to the fund, increasing the unit price of the fund and increasing your KiwiSaver balance.

Sharesies KiwiSaver funds are portfolio investment entity (PIE) funds—this includes US self-select. Members pay tax based on their prescribed investor rate (PIR). 

Members holdings in US self-select options are not foreign investments and do not contribute to the foreign investment fund (FIF) threshold. 

Sharesies processes tax on your behalf, and you’ll receive an annual tax certificate in June each year. 

When buying or selling units in the Sharesies US500 Fund or US self-select picks, you’ll be charged a 0.50% currency exchange fee.
