Not Bitcoin-big, but up there. Ethereum is considered the second-biggest cryptocurrency.
It was launched in 2015 as more than a currency—acting as a decentralised platform where developers can launch apps, databases, services, and games.
Launched by Ripple Labs in 2012 to enable speedy international payments as a ‘bridge’ currency to help move crypto or traditional money.
Instead of fees, each transaction destroys a tiny amount of XRP—reducing the amount of coins over time, increasing scarcity.
The newer kid on the block—launched in 2020.
Runs DeFi (decentralized finance) protocols—this is the blockchain version of financial services, letting people lend, borrow, trade, and more without a bank.
