More than a business bank account
If your company is accumulating cash, it's probably not working as hard as it should be. Sitting in a business account, may lose pace to inflation. A term deposit often offers limited returns, and your money is locked away.
Sharesies gives you two ways to put that surplus to work. Invest directly in thousands of shares, ETFs, and managed funds across NZ, Australian, and US markets or park it in a fully flexible savings account earning competitive interest rates. Or both.
Invest your way, wherever you are
Advised portfolios are a smart way to create a diversified investment portfolio that’s tailored to you and your values—without needing to pick the underlying investments.
Prefer to make your own calls? Choose from over 10,000 options across NZ, AU, and US markets — including shares, managed funds, and ETFs — and build a portfolio that reflects exactly what your company is trying to achieve.

Separate from your personal account
A company has its own legal identity, and your Sharesies account reflects that. Your company account sits entirely in the company's name, with its own portfolio, transaction history, and tax records — completely separate from any personal Sharesies account you might have.
Switching between the two is simple. If you're already on Sharesies, there's no need to juggle separate logins or browsers. Just switch accounts in the app and you're across both, keeping your personal and company investments exactly where they should be.

What you need to open a company account
Step 1: Verify your identity
All directors and beneficial owners (generally shareholders that own 25% or more of the company) of the company will need to complete identity verification.
A valid NZ passport or driver licence works best.
Step 2: Tell us about your company
You'll answer some questions about the company during onboarding. Have your certificate of incorporation handy.
Step 3: Fund the account
Transfer funds from the company's bank account. The account sits in the company's name, separate from any personal investing.
Note: We may request additional documentation depending on your company's structure.

Companies are taxed differently to individuals — for example, they generally use the cost method rather than the fair dividend rate for overseas shares. We recommend talking to your accountant or tax adviser. Sharesies provides full transaction history and reports to support your filing.
No. There are no annual account fees or custody fees for company accounts. The same brokerage applies as for personal accounts (plans are available for personal accounts only) — capped at $25 NZD for NZ shares, $15 AUD for AU shares, and $5 USD for US shares.
