Built for the long game

A family trust is designed to protect and grow wealth over time. Yet for many, the accessible options for saving and investing through a trust have been limited to options such as term deposits with modest returns, or professional investment services that often require larger minimum portfolios and ongoing fees.

Sharesies makes it simple for your trust to invest and save, with direct access to thousands of investments across NZ, Australian, and US markets — with the low fees, transparency and control you'd expect from a modern platform.

Invest your way, wherever you are

Advised portfolios are a smart way to create a diversified investment portfolio that’s tailored to you and your values—without needing to pick the underlying investments.

Prefer to make your own calls? Choose from over 10,000 options across NZ, AU, and US markets — including shares, managed funds, and ETFs — and build a portfolio that reflects exactly what your trust is trying to achieve.

Separate from your personal account

Your trust account sits entirely in the trust's name, with its own portfolio, transaction history, and tax records — completely separate from any personal Sharesies account you might have.

Switching between the two is simple. If you're already on Sharesies, there's no need to juggle separate logins or browsers. Just switch accounts in the app and you're across both, keeping your personal and trust investments exactly where they should be.

What you need to open a trust account

Step 1: Verify your identity

All trustees and beneficial owners (generally named beneficiaries) of the trust will need to complete identity verification. A valid NZ passport or driver licence works best.

Step 2: Tell us about your trust

You'll answer some questions about the trust during onboarding. Have your trust deed handy.

Step 3: Fund the account

Transfer funds from the trust's bank account. The account sits in the trust's name, separate from any personal investing.

Note: We may request additional documentation depending on your trust's structure.

Your trust, in good hands

Simple to set up, easy to manage, and built for the long term. Sharesies makes trust investing straightforward.

Trusts have their own tax obligations depending on structure and how income is distributed. We recommend speaking with your accountant or tax adviser. Sharesies provides full transaction history and reports to support your filing.

No. There are no annual account fees or custody fees for trust accounts. The same brokerage applies as for personal accounts — capped at $25 NZD for NZ shares, $15 AUD for AU shares, and $5 USD for US shares. Sharesies plans apply to personal accounts only, not trusts, companies or partnerships.
