On the table sits a small gold tray holding a pink debit card and a receipt, a pen, and a cup of coffee on a saucer with a spoon. Frequently asked questions

IPO access is the chance to apply for shares in a company before it starts trading on an exchange, at the same price institutional investors pay. Not every offer comes through Sharesies, but when one does, youll see it in the app.

Investing in an IPO carries the same risk as buying any share, plus a few risks specific to new listings.

The price can go up or down once trading starts, with no guarantee it’ll hold or grow—newly listed companies often see bigger price swings, since they have a shorter trading history and less research coverage than established companies.

A newly listed company won’t have the years of published financial results that an established one does. It’s worth reading that IPO’s offer document—the prospectus or product disclosure statement (PDS)—for the risks specific to that company before you apply.

No. Applying for an IPO doesn’t guarantee you’ll receive shares, or the number you asked for. Allocation depends on demand and the criteria set for that specific offer.

Eligibility differs for every offer. We’ll share the specific criteria, such as country of residence requirements or whether you need to be a wholesale investor to participate, when each IPO opens for applications.

Sharesies doesn’t charge a transaction fee when applying for shares in an IPO. However, currency exchange fees may apply if you need to exchange money.

We’ll let you know in the Sharesies app and send you an email when an offer opens.

Once an offer closes, we’ll let you know how many shares—if any—you’ve been allocated, and successful allocations will appear in your Portfolio.

Now for the legal bit

Sharesies is not guaranteed to have access to offer every IPO to its customers. If made available, eligibility criteria will apply. Participation in an IPO and any resulting allotment of shares is not guaranteed.
