Sharesies is building Spend for kids. Join the waitlist to get your kid early access to a Sharesies Debit Mastercard with 1% Investback, so their spending today can help them invest for the years ahead.
What to expect
With Spend for kids, you’ll be able to open a Spend account for your kid, right from the Sharesies app.
They'll get a Sharesies Debit Mastercard of their own, while you’ll have the visibility and controls to help keep them on track.
Plus, with Investback, your kid's spending can help them start investing early, while time is on their side. They’ll earn 1% of what they spend on eligible purchases, invested weekly into their Kids Account.
A card to make theirs
Your kid gets to customise their Sharesies Debit Mastercard to match their personality, with nine illustrations to choose from.
1% Investback
Your kid’s eligible spending earns them 1% in investments on Sharesies.
Safety, by default
Freeze or unfreeze their card at any time. R18 merchants, like gambling and alcohol, are automatically blocked.
No account fee
There’s no fee for the Spend account and virtual card. A physical card costs $15.

Got questions?
Yes, you’ll need to sign up to Sharesies to create a Kids Account and get your kid a Spend account. That’s because their account will be linked to and managed through your account.
If you’re a parent or guardian, you’ll be able to open a Spend account for your kid aged 5-15.
You’ll need to set up a Sharesies Kids Account first, which automatically creates an Invest portfolio for your kid. From there, you’ll be able to create their Spend account.
If your kid is over the age of 16, they’ll be able to open their own Spend account.
Your kid won’t be able to log in and view their account directly from their device. Their account is linked to your Sharesies account, so you can check their balance and spending and share it with them whenever you like.
We’re working on a way for you to grant them view-only access to their account.
Apple Pay and Google Pay are only available to people aged 13 and over. This age limit is set by Apple and Google. If your kid is aged 13+, then you’ll be able to add their Sharesies card manually through their device’s wallet.
Kids under 13 will still be able to use a physical Sharesies Debit Mastercard—it costs $15.
Now for the legal bit
Sharesies Financial Limited provides the Spend service, including Investback. The Spend debit card is issued by Change Labs NZ Pty Ltd pursuant to license by Mastercard.
Spend fees and Investback earn rate are subject to change.
