Why invest in companies?

Loads of choice

You can invest in over 3,000 companies across New Zealand and the US, so there’s a lot to choose from. Invest in companies that you love, recognise, or that align with your values...the choice is yours!

Be in control

When you invest in companies, you can control your portfolio, right down to the individual share. You can invest $1 in each of 100 companies, $50 in each of two companies, or any other combination you want.

Get involved

Owning shares in a company is about more than just giving you a return or helping to support a company that you like. You really do own part of the company that you’re investing in.

Fees when investing in companies

NZ companies

Our fees for buying and selling shares in companies are very competitive. For NZ companies we charge a 0.5% transaction fee for orders up to $3,000 and an additional 0.1% for amounts over that.

US companies

To buy shares in US companies, you need to convert your NZ dollars into US dollars. Sharesies charges a 0.4% exchange fee to make that conversion. Transaction fees are the same as NZ but are charged in US dollars.
