Sharesies Life and Living Insurance Referral Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 17 August, 2026

Welcome to the Sharesies life and living insurance referral service. Before you get started, there's some important information you need to know about how this service works, who it is for, and what happens with your information.

1. Important Information (The Disclaimer)

Sharesies has partnered with Partners Life, a licensed New Zealand insurer, to refer customers who are interested in life and living insurance (including life, income protection, trauma, and other personal insurance offered by Partners Life).

However, Sharesies is not an insurer, insurance broker, or financial adviser, and does not provide insurance or financial advice about insurance. This is a referral-only service.

What we do: We connect you with Partners Life so they can talk to you about life and living insurance. With your consent, we pass on the information needed to make that conversation useful.

What we don't do: We do not recommend, arrange, or advise on any insurance product. We do not assess whether any policy is right for you, and we are not involved in any advice given, policy issued, premium charged, or claim decided by Partners Life.

Where to seek help: Any advice about whether insurance is right for you, and which cover suits your circumstances, will come from Partners Life or your own independent financial adviser, not Sharesies.

2. Eligibility

To use the referral service, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age;

  • be living in New Zealand;

  • have an active Sharesies account; and

  • accept these terms and conditions and consent to your information being shared with Partners Life.

3. How the referral works

Your choice: A referral only happens if you ask for one and consent to your information being shared. You are never obligated to proceed with a call, an application, or a policy.

Separate engagement: If you proceed, you will be dealing directly with Partners Life. Sharesies is not a party to that engagement. Any advice, application, policy, premium, or claim is between you and Partners Life. Application status and details of any in-force policies will be viewable in Sharesies under Life Insurance.

Accuracy of information: You are responsible for ensuring the information you provide is accurate and complete. Partners Life may decline cover or a claim if information is inaccurate or incomplete - see their disclosure documents for full information.

4. Your information

Sharing your information: With your consent, we will share your personal information (which may include financial information from your Sharesies account) with Partners Life for the purpose of the referral.

How Partners Life can use it: Partners Life can only use your information to process your referral and to service any resulting policy. They won’t market or promote unrelated products to you without Sharesies’ consent, though they may discuss additional cover if it’s relevant to the advice you’re getting. Partners Life cannot share it with anyone else.

If you don't proceed: If your referral does not progress to a policy, Partners Life must delete your information either 90 days after your quote expires, or if you didn’t get a quote, 90 days after your referral. Partners life will not contact you after that time.

Privacy Policy: We collect and process your personal information in accordance with the Sharesies Privacy Policy.

5. Referral fees

To be transparent, we may receive a referral fee or commission from Partners Life if you take out a policy following a referral. This fee is paid by Partners Life to Sharesies as part of our commercial partnership, and does not change the premium you pay.

6. Liability

For clarity, sections 4 and  5 of the Sharesies General Terms and Conditions apply in full to this referral service. In addition, you accept that Sharesies will not be responsible for any Loss (whether direct or indirect) related to:

  • any advice given, or not given, by Partners Life;

  • any decision by Partners Life to offer, decline, vary, or cancel cover;

  • the terms, pricing, or performance of any policy;

  • the outcome of any claim; and

  • your decision to proceed (or not proceed) with a referral or policy.

7.  Life and Living Insurance Airpoint Bonus Terms

Eligibility and Offer Customers who successfully take out a new Partners Life policy through the Sharesies platform will receive a one-off 50 Airpoints bonus. This offer applies exclusively to one new policy and does not apply to the renewal of existing policies. Customers are limited to one bonus regardless of the number of specific cover types included within the policy. Airpoints earned through your Sharesies account will only be visible in your Koru member account in the month following the month in which they were earned.

Requirements for Awarding Airpoints To be eligible to receive and retain the 50 Airpoints bonus, the customer must:

  • Have a valid Koru number linked to their Sharesies account; and

  • Ensure the applicable Partners Life policy is active at the time the bonus Airpoints are scheduled to be awarded.

Retention and Reversal of Airpoints The eligible Partners Life policy must be maintained for a minimum period of six (6) months. If the policy is cancelled, surrendered, or otherwise terminated within the first six (6) months of the policy commencement date, Sharesies reserves the right to request that Air New Zealand reverse or deduct the 50 bonus Airpoints from the customer’s Koru account.

Right to Amend or Terminate Sharesies reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate this Airpoints bonus offer at any time, at its sole discretion, without prior notice.

General Terms This offer is subject to the standard Sharesies and Partners Life Terms and Conditions. General eligibility criteria and Terms and Conditions apply to all Sharesies Airpoints programs and offers.

8. General Terms

Changes to these Terms: Sharesies can update these terms at any time without prior notice. If we modify these terms, we will post the modification on the Sharesies website/app. Continued use of the service constitutes consent to the changes.

Governing Law: These terms are governed by New Zealand law and the courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction.

Severability: If any provision in these terms is held to be invalid, void, or unenforceable, that provision will be struck out and will not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
